I seek out and engage in service that is personally meaningful and has the potential to positively impact those around me. For example, I chaired the AACSB New Deans Learning Affinity group, chaired the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) New Member Services Committee, was co-editor of the Small Business Institute and am a former president of both the Southeast Decision Sciences Institute (SE DSI) and the Southeast Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (SE INFORMS). I have chaired multiple high-level searches, been part of major technology purchase and implementation initiatives, and still try to find time to serve as faculty advisor for at least one student group. I also served as an appointed member U.S. Social Security Administration’s Occupational Information Development Advisory Panel from 2009-2012. Because each of these endeavors has as its goal making lives better, I always feel like there is a significant return on my invested time.
